About the Book:
This book analyze the initiatives of government to achieve the rural development
in India in pre as well as the post independence era. In this book the fundamentals
of rural development like concept, meaning, problems, process, approaches, strategies
have been analyzed vividly. Moreover, different rural development programmes,
institutional linkages, importance of Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP)
for rural development, role of GPs to achieve Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) and government’s planning for rural development in India have also
been clearly focused. Further, the role of women in rural development is clearly

About the Author:
Dr. Parikshit Sahu has obtained his Master Degree in Analytical and Applied
Economics from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha in 1995. He has immense
experience of teaching. He has been teaching Rural Development programmes of
government acts, rules, guidelines of different programmes and projects to the
developmental professionals, government officials, PRI members in different
training institutes. He is a prolific writer, public orator, panelist of Doordarshan
and a columnist. He has published a good volume of research articles, study
reports, case studies to his credit in national and international journals.
