This book focuses on the geo-political importance and wars of the Persian Gulf. The Persian Gulf countries contain a significant percentage of world\\'s oil and gas reserves and have therefore played a significant role in the global geo-political and geo-economic issues. The study seeks to analyse the geo-politics of the regional states, regional order and contemporary conflicts in the region; the geo-strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz and the role that Iran and United States can play to evolve an \\'order\\' in the region. It also focuses on one of the critical geopolitical areas that has seen such a long drawn conflicts like the Iran-Iraq war or the Kuwait war that was to begin the process of a more long drawn struggle over Iraq. It is a region that has witnessed hegemonic aspirations by both, the regional powers and extra regional powers. It is this complexity that makes any argument for the development of `order\\' in the region a difficult task. This study represents a good effort to bring the geo-political complexities of the region sought to go beyond the narrow factual constraints and to provide a direction for the possible path for the development of order in the region.
